Accessibility Statement

This site should work with a keyboard, a screen reader, or whatever else you browse with. If it doesn't, email stateofgracetattoo@gmail.com and we'll fix it.

What We Aim For

We build and test this site against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard most accessibility law in the US points to. In practice that means text with enough contrast to read, every control reachable and operable from the keyboard, form fields that are labelled and errors that say what to fix, and pages that still work when you zoom in or browse on a narrow phone screen.

Where We Stand

WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA has 50 success criteria. Nine of them don't apply to this site, since no video plays here, nothing is on a timer, and there are no motion or single-key controls. The other 41 do apply, and as of the last assessment the site meets all 41.

Two things we want to be straight about. We haven't finished testing with a screen reader. The keyboard testing and the markup review are done and the site passes both, but a full VoiceOver pass on Mac and iPhone is still on our list, and that is usually where real-world problems turn up. The other is the map on the home page: it's embedded from Google, so how it behaves is up to them rather than us. If the map is the part giving you trouble, our address and phone number are in the footer of every page.

How We Tested

Automated scans with axe-core covered 13 pages and interactive states at both desktop and 320px phone width, 25 scans in total. By hand we tabbed through every page, opened and closed the menu and the portfolio lightbox with the keyboard, worked through the booking form's labels, error messages and confirmation, and measured the contrast of artist names over their photos pixel by pixel.

The last full assessment was October 5, 2026. This statement was written October 8, 2026. We re-test after any significant change to the site and review this page when we do.

Tell Us What Broke

If something on this site kept you from doing what you came to do, we want to hear about it. Email stateofgracetattoo@gmail.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line. Tell us which page you were on and what happened, and if you know the browser or assistive technology you were using, include that too. A real person reads these and you'll hear back within a few business days.

If you'd rather talk it through, call the shop at (408) 441-7770 during open hours.

This is our own assessment of the site, not a certification. No body certifies a website as WCAG compliant, and we make no claim to be finished. Accessibility is work that keeps going, and this page gets updated as the site and our testing change.
